HISTORY
Mercy Centre as an organisation dates back to 1882; its particular business of community based services to people with disabilities began in 1976. Due to unmet needs in the field of disabilities Mercy Centre has developed specialist expertise in working with people with challenging behaviour; working with people who have been involved in the criminal justice system; people with autism; and more recently, people with acquired brain injury with high physical and medical needs. Mercy Centre’s services also include supports to children, to people with complex needs, to people with Down Syndrome and others with generalized developmental delay, to people with disabilities in their more senior years, and to people who require respite for shorter periods of time.
