Mercy Centre has a range of current strategies in place to ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement. The organisation has taken steps to develop a quality assurance system that will meet the stringent ISO 9001:2000 standards in the future. A member of the management team is an accredited ISO quality auditor and has extensive experience in setting up quality management systems in disability services.
Mercy Centre also has in place an internal audit process. This involves members of staff and management who are trained in quality auditing conducting audits against all organisational policies and processes according to an established schedule. Areas for improvement are identified through non-conformance reports. In many cases the existing process has been found to be an improvement on the documented process that has been developed 'on the job'. In these cases documented processes are amended to reflect these improvements. This enables staff at all levels to have input into the development of organisational processes.
